SAN JOSE
Located in the heart of the "Silicon Valley," San Jose is the largest city in the Bay Area with a population of some 835,000. Encompassing more than 175 square miles, it is the 11th largest city in the nation and the 3rd largest in California. There are many new sub-divisions and the character of the neighborhoods is quite varied.
Since 1984 more than $1 billion has been invested in downtown San Jose's renaissance. Among the highlights: the $140 million San Jose McEnery Convention center, a transit mall that is the focal point of the ultramodern 20 mile-long Light Rail system; the largest children's museum on the West Coast: and the San Jose Arena, completed in September, 1993. There are countless exciting attractions and colorful festivals, art exhibits, musical performances, and award winning restaurants.
